Newcastle were able to navigate a deadline day yesterday full of speculation regarding an Arsenal bid for the Italy international. Indeed, such was the intensity of the rumours that Tonali's agent, Beppe Riso, went public to deny the stories.
Riso declared: “We never had any conversation with Arsenal.
“Newcastle were never gonna let Tonali leave in January. There’s absolutely nothing into it. We didn’t even talk about it.”
However, The Sun says things are set to change at season's end, with Arsenal to battle two other Premier League suitors for Tonali.
The Gunners, Manchester City and Chelsea believe Newcastle will sell the former AC Milan youngster if they put £100m on table.
In City's case, it's suggested they will go higher with plans of signing both Tonali and Toon fullback Tino Livramento in a double raid.
