Liverpool chiefs make new transfer gamble on Palace defender Guehi

The England defender saw a £35m move to Liverpool blocked by Palace in the final hours of the summer market.

Now inside the final year of his Palace contract, Guehi is set to run down his deal this season.

The Times says Liverpool won't make a move to sign Guehi in January and instead will gamble and wait until June to pick him up as a free agent.

From January 1, Guehi is free to commit to a pre-contract with any foreign club, while he could also be cashed in by Palace over the January market.

But Liverpool are prepared to hold their nerve and wait until the end of the season to sign Guehi.
