Manchester United sacked Ruben Amorim on Monday morning in what could become a costly move.

Amorim was sacked on Monday, less than 24 hours after the club’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United where he demanded others at the club "do their jobs”.

He was dismissed following a Monday morning meeting with Wilcox and Omar Berrada, United's chief executive, as the two parties clearly disagreed on how the club must be run.

In a statement, United said the decision has been made “reluctantly” and “it is the right time to make a change”

Speaking to AceOdds, Dr. Wilson, Director of Executive Education at University Campus of Football Business in London, states that this sacking may cost the club more than they expected.

“Ruben Amorim’s wages were considerably lower than those of other Premier League managers, likely due to the cost of releasing him from his Sporting Lisbon contract.

“Intuitively, a figure of £12M seems appropriate for his contract, though it's unclear if this covers only him or his entire backroom team, who all came with him.

“However, when you consider the total package to replace Amorim, this figure could quickly rise to £50M based on the estimated costs Manchester United made by sacking and replacing Erik ten Hag with Amorim.

“This is a sum Manchester United would likely prefer not to spend in a single year, particularly when the club is implementing redundancies elsewhere.”

Amorim lost last season’s Europa League final to the worst Tottenham team in nearly 50 years and led United to 15th in the Premier League and many fans will be glad to see him leave, despite the gigantic cost in seeing him leave.
