De Telegraaf says Arsenal are making their move knowing Chelsea are in talks with Ajax for the youngster.
Ajax have rejected Chelsea's first offer for the 19 year-old defender. The Blues tabled €40m for Hato, with Ajax making it clear he won't leave for less than €55-60m.
As such, Ajax's stand has opened the door to Arsenal making a rival proposal for Hato in the coming days. Indeed, the Gunners are already in contact with the Dutch giants for their young prospect.
