Liverpool star Harvey Elliott is to be offered the chance to make a loan move to MLS side Charlotte FC.

After winning player of the tournament and finishing as top scorer at the under-21s Euros, Elliott was expected to step into the Villa side under manager Unai Emery and potentially lead the side in midfield.

However, his last appearance for the club was playing 45 minutes against former club Fulham in September as the club refuse to start the player who, if he reaches a certain number of games, the club will have to bring him in for around £35M due a clause in the deal.

Elliott, 22, is stranded though as Fifa rules state that a player cannot play for more than two teams with Europe in a season and now, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Charlotte FC have swooped in to try and save him.

“Charlotte FC are prepared to offer Harvey Elliott the chance to play on loan in MLS until June.

“Elliott, likely to return to Liverpool after being unused at Aston Villa on loan.

“Decision up to the player.”

Coach Dean Smith, the former Aston Villa manager, and Charlotte general manager Zoran Krneta are said to be big admirers of Elliott, who will be desperate to return to the pitch as he continues to rot on the Villa bench.

Elliott has made just seven appearances across all competitions, but hasn't been in a matchday squad since October. Charlotte is an excellent chance for him to return to his old self in completely new surroundings.
