Rayo Vallecano finished with nine players against Real Madrid after Pep Chavarría was sent off in the 103rd minute.

They were already down to ten men after Pathé Ciss was shown a red card in the 80th minute for a reckless challenge on Dani Ceballos.

With the score at 2-1, the fullback pushed Rodrygo into the advertising hoarding while the ball was not in play. The referee saw it and showed him a second yellow card .

"Today is one of the saddest days I've left a pitch. This team deserves respect. Thank you Rayo fans, we will continue fighting against everything and everyone. God is just and sees everything. Faith," Pep said on social media after the defeat against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu, with a penalty in the 99th minute.

Rayo coach Inigo Perez also stated, "I expected a long extra time, but I saw the team defending the area quite well, without the feeling that they could score against us."
