Akhomach is available from Villarreal this month, with Alaves also keen.
But Marca says Getafe are favourites to land the former Barcelona prospect.
Akhomach's deal with Villarreal runs to 2027 and he is currently away with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations. Any decision over a move away won't be made until he returns to Spain.
Meanwhile, Getafe coach Jose Bordalas admitted on Friday his squad was down to the bare bones: "I'm sad, I don't deserve what's happening. I'm a coach who's always been labeled as someone who gets results, but when you sharpen a pencil, it eventually wears down, and we've worn it down, there's no pencil left.
"That's the reality. I don't deserve this, I wouldn't wish it on anyone."
