Aston Villa boss Unai Emery played down his blow-up with Youri Tielemans during last night's Europa League win at Fenerbahe.

Villa won 1-0 via Jadon Sancho's header, though for some the goal was overshadowed by Emery's passionate confrontation with his midfielder Tielemans.

The Belgian was taken off in injury-time and as he stretched out his hand to Emery, the manager ignored it and steamed into Tielemans. The clash even saw Emery shove Tielemans in the chest.

Post-match, a smiling Emery told TNT Sports when asked about the incident: "He's my son."

The Basque then moved onto other questions.

Later on Instagram he did not mention the incident, instead writing: "Three massive points at a ground that is never easy sealed our place in the round of 16. Proud of the great effort and commitment every player showed today. Thanks to all the fans backing us in the stadium and from home."

It is suggested Emery's ire stemmed from a late yellow card collected by Tielemans.
