Brentford head coach Keith Andrews believes Antoni Milambo can be a key player for the Bees after joining the club this summer.

The 20-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Brentford in what is an exciting deal for the club who are facing a tough season ahead as transfer links suggest that Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa will be departing the side.

The Dutchman made 60 appearances for Feyenoord, who finished third in the Eredivisie last season and many were surprised to see the youngster sign for Brentford when he had other options on the table.

Standard Sport reports that director of football Phil Giles’ shrewd negotiating but also to manager Keith Andrews’s powers of persuasion were key to drawing in Milambo this summer. The report suggests that Brentford’s data-driven approach and technical director Lee Dykes’ detailed overview of his strengths and weaknesses helped snap up the playmaker.

The Netherlands Under-21 international has been in negotiations since April and it is clear that he was impressed by the vision of the club. Brentford have extensively scouted Milambo and it looks like they have a clear plan for his future with the side that need creative talent like him more than ever heading into the new campaign.
