Verweij believes new Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruyff will make an attempt to convince Slot to leave Liverpool and return to the Eredivisie this summer.

“Whether Dick Schreuder is the most important candidate for Ajax next summer? Well, what you hear is that Jordi Cruyff is very charmed by Arne Slot," Verweij said on De Telegraaf's podcast.
“You never know it goes there after this season. Maybe Cruyff will throw a line out to Slot there? That makes no sense to Peter Bosz, because he himself said that Cruyff does not have to call.”
He added: “But I wouldn't be surprised if Cruijff enters the Spanish market and comes up with a Spanish trainer.”
