Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered coach Xavi his full support.

Laporta missed Tuesday's Champions League defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in Hamburg.

However, Mundo Deportivo says Laporta has since called Xavi to assure the coach of his full support and belief in his coaching.

Xavi appreciated the gesture after admitting the defeat was the worst he'd experienced as a coach.

The former Barca star has agreed a a new deal to 2025.
