West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson feels they're stronger at the back this season.

Olsson is pleased with the progress Albion are making defensively in the top flight and says it is no coincidence that form has come with the introduction of Gareth McAuley to the Baggies' backline.

"We have been more solid this year and in most of the games, apart from Swansea, we have been solid," he told the WBA website.

"We've put a lot of work in on the shape, on the defence as a unit, as a team, and it is paying off.

"Gareth has been very solid since he came in.

"He is experienced, a good header of the ball, and it is nice to play alongside him.

"He has really impressed me."
