The Daily Star says West Ham's opening bid of 10million plus two players for Rondon has been rejected by West Brom.

The uncertainty at Newcastle, who confirmed on Monday that Rafa Benitez will leave his role as manager this month, has handed the Hammers the advantage in the race to sign the striker.

It is claimed that the Hammers offered the Baggies 10m for Rondon plus two out-of-favour players - understood to be Sam Byram and Jordan Hugill.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen to reunite with the Venezuela international, the pair having worked together previously at Spanish club Malaga.

Newcastle United, where Rondon was on-loan last season, and West Ham are chasing the Venezuela striker.

We're quite happy to say that we will sell Salomon," said Dowling.

We don't want a player that's had a season like that staying around with us and walking away on a Bosman.

Salomon has had the taste of Newcastle. He went back to a Premier League club and if he plays in England that's where he wants to be.

Salomon has a market worldwide so it's not just clubs in this country that are interested."

Bilic has revealed friends questioned why he was joining West Brom but he told them managing in the Championship was a bucket list item.

"It was always on my bucket list," Bilic said. "I wanted to tick it before I retired. It is a big responsibility but I can't wait to start.

"People ask me, 'Why you come to West Brom?' Well, it is the league I like. I have to be honest and say I didn't have top European clubs interested in me. But was this my only opportunity? No. Hopefully it will be a good match.

"Unfinished business? I don't see it this way. It's not a trendy club, it's not a five year-old-club, it's a very traditional club, very family. They are very demanding, very loyal.

"We're gonna try to come back to the Premier League this year. We are going to do everything that is within our budget to make the team ready to play for the promotion. That is our goal. We are going to give everything."

Pardew is in contention to become the new manager of Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati.

The 57-year-old has been out of work since he was axed by West Brom last summer after eight straight league defeats.

ESPN reports Pardew is a "serious candidate" to take over at the West End Stadium.

The source claims that United States Under-20 boss Tab Ramos and Aitor Karanka are also in the running.

Robert Maaskant was interviewed for the job last week, but has since opted to join VVV-Venlo in the Eredivisie.

The Gunners are looking to get the 45,000-a-week defender off their books.

Sky Sports says the Baggies lead the race for Jenkinson as they eye a return to the top flight.

West Brom finished fourth in the Championship last season and are among the favourites to go up.

Celtic are also believed to be keen after Mikael Lustig, Jeremy Toljan and Cristian Gamboa left the club.

Jenkinson earns 45,000 a week at the Emirates and the Gunners are keen to get his wages off the books.

The Mirror says Barry has been offered a three-year deal at the Hawthorns, in a bid to stop interest from Barcelona.

Barry turned 16 on Friday and for the first time under UEFA rules, West Brom have been able to offer him a one-year scholarship followed by a two-year professional contract.

Barry is currently seen as one of the hottest properties in youth football in England.

And Barca are eager to tempt him to La Masia a year after swooping for former Arsenal whiz Marcus McGuane.
