Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback was left frustrated in defeat to Tottenham.
Spurs won 1-0 thanks to Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Colback was left to rue the point that got away, telling safc.com: "Maybe we could have got a draw; we were very disappointed with the goal we gave away.
"We created chances of our own and on another day we would have put them away. It's especially disappointing given the way the goal went in.
"We had possession of the ball but lost it and when you do that teams like Spurs will punish you.
"But there are positive signs - we just need to start turning performances into wins.""We gifted it to them. In the game they had a lot of possession but we felt comfortable, were well-organised and defending well.
