Rabbi Matondo could see action for Schalke against former club Manchester City.
Matondo, who left the Etihad for Schalke in a £11.3million deal just 20 days ago, could make his Champions League debut against his old club.
The winger played 89 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Freiburg.
He had already made his debut as a substitute against Borussia Monchengladbach and played a key role in a 4-1 German Cup victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Matondo said: “It has not been easy to adapt away from home but this is what I wanted.
“I was ready and willing to do anything to get settled in quickly and just get underway.
“I got some good minutes — hopefully I can just keep going and push on from that."
