Man City attacker Gabriel Jesus: I can't explain World Cup flop

Manchester City attacker Gabriel Jesus has defended his World Cup campaign with Brazil.

Brazil coach Tite stuck with Gabriel Jesus, feeling that his work rate and movement freed up space for star men Neymar and Willian.

And in the aftermath of their exit, the attacker hinted at the same thing.

He said: “It's frustrating – I leave here very frustrated. I was not what I expected.

“I don't know why it went this way – if I did, I'd find a way to solve it.

“Tactically I've always been obedient, and that's what was doing.

“Maybe I didn't have clear chances – I don't know, man, I want to win, to score. I didn't miss chances, sometimes things happen that you don't expect.

“In football, one day you are this, one day you are that, it's normal and I accept it well.

“Now it's time to reflect. There will always be emotion – if you carry the expectations of 200million people you have to have emotion."
