Joleon Lescott fears for his England place as he battles for first team action with Manchester City.
The ex-Everton defender, 30, became a mainstay of Roy Hodgson's defence during the Euros. But the arrival of Matija Nastasic has seen him slip down the pecking order.
Lescott said: "It's important I stay fit and get back in the team.
"It's nice to have played for England but I need to force my way back into our side first to have a chance of staking a claim for my country.
"It'll be hard to break back regularly with Matija playing so well."
