Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott can see Vincent Kompany eventually returning to take charge.
Burnley manager Kompany will kickoff the Premier League season on Friday night against former club Manchester City.
"I think Vinny will forever be a legend at the club and well respected by the fans and players that he played with," said Lescott. "I think everyone who knows Vinny is not surprised. Maybe you are surprised by the speed of what he has achieved, but in regards to what he will go on and do, it won't surprise anyone.
"I'm really close with Vinnie, and I think he was two weeks into the job when he told me he was going to be better at managing than he was playing. So, big statement, Vinnie!
"He was deadly serious, and you have to believe him because when he puts his mind to something, he leaves no stone unturned. And like I said, this isn't a surprise to me."
He added: "Like we've said numerous times and in different interviews, if Vinny said he wants to be the King of Belgium or the King of Congo, that wouldn't surprise me because he has that drive to be the best he can be in anything he puts his mind to.
"I see Vinny being a Manchester City manager, whether it's after Pep... will he be that smart to take that job? I don't know, but in regards to the future, definitely."
