FC Copenhagen fullback Kristiansen happy with performance against Man City attacker Mahrez

FC Copenhagen fullback Victor Kristiansen insists he was happy with his showing against Manchester City attacker Riyad Mahrez last night.

City won their Champions League encounter 5-0, with Mahrez scoring a penalty and making an assist for Julian Alvarez.

But 19 year-old Kristiansen said afterwards: "I actually think that most of the time I closed him down nicely, and after we switched to a five-back chain in the second half I could get closer to him, but they constantly outnumbered us and played two-on-one or three-on-two out on the side, so it's just hard to get close enough to them.

"I came close to causing an own goal at the start of the second half.

"They are fantastic on the ball. Just getting close to them is difficult, and when you get the ball, you are so far back in your own half that it feels like there is an infinite distance to their goal."
