Brighton whiz Facundo Buonanotte shocked by Argentina call

Brighton whiz Facundo Buonanotte plans to learn from the very best in the game this month.

The Albion teenager has earned a shock call-up to the Argentina squad for upcoming friendlies.

The World Cup winners are giving younger players a chance to show what they can do under boss Lionel Scaloni.

Buonanotte told The Argus: “It wasn't something I was expecting.

“It was very nice news and I'm grateful to the national team for this chance.

“After the game against Stoke, one of Lionel Scaloni's assistants sent me a message and said I would be part of the next squad.

“The first thing I did when I heard was tell my family and my representative and of course they were very pleased.

“It has that plus that I will share my first call-up with the world champions.

“What could be better than that?

“I will make the absolute most of it."

He added: “I only know Alexis (Mac Allister - of the world champions). I was with Messi just once when I was in a training session when I was with the under-20s and we joined in with the seniors.

“But I only really saw him from a distance, we didn't share a moment together. We didn't have any dialogue.

“I watched the World Cup on TV with family and friends and of course I was very happy.

“All of Argentina was depending on them winning, more than anything because we knew it could be Leo's last World Cup. He is the best player in the world. I have no doubts about that."
