Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo refused to discuss coach Diego Simeone's contract status today.

Atletico meet Lazio in the Champions League later tonight.

Asked if he retained confidence in Simeone, Cerezo stated: "Of course yes, he is our coach and fortunately he will continue to be as long as he wants."

On his contract renewal, the president continued: "We are here for an important match for Atlético de Madrid. For you to ask me now about one of these things does not seem reasonable to me. We are going to talk about the game and tomorrow, the day after tomorrow or whenever it arises we will talk about the topic, but I think everything is quite clear.

"It is the eleventh edition in a row in the Champions League. I think it is very important to be in the Champions League eleven times in a row, but I think today's game and winning today is more important."
