Stoke's Hughes plays down Aston Villa interest in Palacios

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says he is oblivious to any interest in midfielder Wilson Palacios.

The Honduras international is a reported target for Aston Villa but Hughes insists he does not know anything of the curiosity of the West Midlands club.

"I'm not aware of that interest," he said ahead of this weekend's trip to Hull City.

"It's been difficult for Wilson. He obviously had an opportunity to go to Qatar, which was a good opportunity for him and ourselves, but that fell through."

However, the Potters manager admits former Tottenham midfielder Palacios could be soon on his way out the Britannia Stadium exit door.

"Wilson we like as a guy and as a player, but the squad is a little bit top heavy and some guys need to move on," he added.

Since arriving at Stoke from Spurs in 2011, 30-year old Palacios has made just 53 appearances in all competitions.
