Udinese coach Cannavaro praises kids for Bologna draw

Udinese coach Fabio Cannavaro was pleased with their 1-1 draw at Bologna.

Martin Payero had Udinese ahead before Alexis Saelemaekers found an equaliser. Sam Beukema was also sent off for Bologna.

Cannavaro said: "I have to get into the kids' heads and clean away the fear. The path must be that of sacrifice and unity.

“Today we were good as a team, I liked everyone's attitude but we need to improve our management. If we think we always have to run after our opponents it becomes complicated, but I'm satisfied with my boys."

A constant threat was Lazar Samardzic and Cannavaro said: “Since I arrived I have tried to talk to the players and also to him. Today I got angry because sometimes he loses too many balls, he has to understand that they double or triple him and improve in managing the ball.

"He has important qualities and is a fundamental player. He attacked by directing his body especially in the first half and we came close to scoring. When we tried to play we created important things."

On goalkeeper Maduka Okoye's role, he said: “It is a particular role. The goalkeeper is alone and therefore any mistake it is as if he has to 'eat' it alone. We must be good at making him realise that he has saved us in other situations.

"These things happen, sometimes we have to be focused like for most of the match. We conceded little to Bologna, the team that plays best in Italy and creates a lot. Everyone has their own weapons, we have these and must not make mistakes like what happened to us in the past."
