Southampton move the right choice for me - ex-Celtic ace Forster

Fraser Forster is delighted that he has made the move back to the Premier League.

The 26-year old goalkeeper left Scottish champions Celtic to sign with Southampton for £10million in August and is now relishing his top flight return after a strong start to the 2014/15 season.

Forster, who was with Newcastle United in the early stages of his career, has played the first five league matches for the second-placed Saints and admits making the jump from the Scottish Premiership has so far been vindicated.

"For me it's important to come down and play Premier League football. Just to come and do as well as I can for Southampton, first and foremost," Forster said.

"I felt it was the right time and it was a fantastic opportunity and one that I could never have turned down. It's a fantastic club to play for, and everyone said that.

"I spoke to (England teammate) Adam Lallana (who left for Liverpool in the transfer window) quite a lot in the summer and as soon as the opportunity arose he was very complimentary about the club and said I'd love it.

"I'm delighted that was the choice I made. It's important that I play well week by week and see where it takes me."
