Southampton manager Russell Martin is realistic about the club holding onto one of its directors.

The head coach believe that rumors linking Manchester United with director of football Jason Wilcox may be accurate.

While he does not know if Wilcox will stay, or whether he has already made up his mind to leave, Martin shared his positive views of Wilcox.

He told Southern Daily Echo: "I hope it's people putting two and two together and coming up with five.

“I have a lot of respect for Jason and it's no surprise people would be interested in working with him after his work here and long time at City.

“I would like to think he would have a chat with us first if there was anything in it, he is so honest and so open.

“He has been a big driver of the culture we have here. I have nothing but praise for Jason for the work he has done with us."
