Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has rejected a move to Southampton.
The People says Southampton tried desperately to land the Mexico World Cup star as part of the £33million deal which saw England left-back Luke Shaw move from St Mary's to Old Trafford last month.
But Hernandez sees a move to the south coast club as too big a step down and now wants to hold talks about his future with incoming United boss Louis van Gaal.
The 26-year-old had a frustrating time during David Moyes' reign at the Reds last season, and Italian giants Inter Milan and Spanish side Valencia have asked to be kept informed of his position over the summer.
