Man City defender Laporte takes swipe at Southampton's Vestergaard over penalty call

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte took aim at Jannik Vestergaard after last night's victory over Southampton.

Pep Guardiola's men beat the Saints 5-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening as they bounced back from their derby defeat to Manchester United.

It was not quite the perfect night for Laporte, however, as he conceded a first-half penalty.

The defender - recalled to the starting line-up in place of John Stones - was adjudged to have fouled fellow centre-back Vestergaard in the box and James Ward-Prowse converted from the spot in the 25th minute to cancel out Kevin De Bruyne's opener.

Laporte was apparently none too impressed by the way Vestergaard went down as he took to social media at full-time.

Posting a photograph of the incident on Twitter, the Frenchman said sarcastically: "Glad everyone made it safe after this huge storm of wind."
