And Owen told AS: “It's a balance when you're a youngster. You can play every week at a smaller team, or you can learn, train and play with great players [at a bigger club]. That's invaluable experience.

“Modric and Kroos aren't going to last forever.

"There's going to be a real opportunity at Real Madrid for these young midfielders, there's a great chance for a long career there, for the right person."
