Ex-Celtic ace Forster lifted by Southampton start

Fraser Forster is buoyed by the way Southampton have kicked off the 2014/15 Premier League season.

The Saints are sitting fourth on the table despite an opening day loss to Liverpool and new goalkeeper Forster feels that things are going well on the south coast.

The former Celtic star has kept two clean sheets for the Saints to recover to a record of two wins, a draw and a loss which has them well-placed ahead of Saturday's trip to third-placed Swansea City.

"I think the team has really come together over the last few weeks. We can be proud of the start we've had," Forster told the club's official website.

"Game-by-game we've got stronger as we've gone on, and we've picked up some great results along the way.

"Defensively we've looked really strong and we've improved game-on-game. That's credit to the back four.

"Everyone wants to get off to a good start and we've done that. Confidence is really high and everyone is really happy."

Forster says Southampton's start to the campaign can be rated even higher after appointing Ronald Koeman as manager in the summer and bringing a number of new faces.

"There have been a lot of new lads coming in and everyone has settled in well. It's been a perfect start," he added.

Of the clash with Swansea, Forster added further: "It'll be a very tough game for us like all games are in the Premier League. It's important that we're fully focused on ourselves.

"It's been a great start for both of us. They're a very good team and play very attractive football."
