Former Everton whizkid Thierry Small has signed for Charlton Athletic.

The fullback joins the Addicks as a free agent.

Small made his debut at Everton at 16, but quit the Blues for Southampton over contract terms.

Now 19, Small was released by Saints, having made just the one appearance, and has now popped up at Charlton.

Technical Director Andy Scott said: “Thierry is a young player that has been at a number of very good clubs and we think that he's got the talent, the physicality and the mentality to perform at this level.

“With it being a short-term deal, it's an opportunity for him to prove to us that he's capable of being with us for longer. He gives us more competition on the left-hand side which is an area that we've been looking to add to."
