Barcelona have expanded its esports presence by signing a team to compete in Rocket League, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
Barça have taken over the unsigned Savage! roster and will compete in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) starting on 7th April.
This marks Barça's second venture into competitive esports. The club already has a team in eFootball.Pro, a Pro Evolution Soccer league developed by game publishers Konami and current Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué.
Robert Kendall, Barcelona's Rocket League coach said: "Being part of Barcelona is the greatest award that any athlete can achieve, so I am deeply honoured to lead this team. The fact that Barcelona joins the Rocket League is a success for both the club and the community."
Barcelona are only the second European soccer club to launch an affiliate Rocket League team, following French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
