Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has said he expects winger Trezeguet to complete a move for Istanbul Basaksehir this afternoon.

The Turkish transfer window remains open this week.

The Villans boss said: "He's been at AFCON, he's been very unlucky with the way it ended. Obviously it was disappointing, but I think he had a positive time out there.

"There'll be an announcement in the coming hours of what'll happen with him, he'll go on loan and play.

"That's the right thing for him. He's been out for seven months with a career-threatening injury, in his rehab he's been really strong and positive and he's back in a good place.

"Now he needs to go and play and get himself back to full fitness and form – then we'll discuss his situation in the summer."
