Arsenal boss Arteta coy on striker signing plans

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would not be drawn on transfer speculation yesterday.

Arteta was asked about the impact of Kai Havertz playing as a false nine striker for his team.

Given he also has Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, and other attackers, Arteta was asked if he still hopes to sign Brentford's Ivan Toney.

He told reporters: “I don't talk about any other player. If not I'll have to rule out every other player in the market because we're linked with a lot of players."

He then added on a striker signing: “The plans that we have for the summer are very clear.

“They were done almost at the start of the season understanding what we can have, the contract situations with some players, and how we can improve certain areas of the team.

“This situation doesn't change that."
