The agent of Raul admits several Premiership clubs made enquiries after the Real Madrid captain in the summer.

Newcastle, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been linked with Raul and his agent, Gines Carvajal, told AS: "While he is in active-duty he will continue at Madrid. This summer, top English clubs called me asking about the possibility of signing him.

"Normally they call you if they suspect there are difficulties, because they all know that he is an essential player.

"We did not listen to the offers. And when he retires, he will continue in the world of football."
