Xisco hopes to catch Spanish eyes at Newcastle

Xisco hopes his World Cup winning friends keep an eye on his progress at Newcastle United.

The Spanish striker is determined to prove himself in England this season.

Xisco, who scored four times for Racing Santander last term, told the Evening Chronicle: "I am friends with Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Pedro, Sergio Ramos and Xavi Martinez - they are all people that I played with for the Spanish Under-21s.

"We played against each other every year in La Liga so we know each other well and keep in touch a lot. I was one of the first to send them my congratulations when they lifted the World Cup.

"I hope they will watch me in the Premier League next season playing for Newcastle.

"We always keep in touch and, whenever one of us scores a goal, we send our congratulations."
