West Ham are ready to make a first offer for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.

The England midfielder is set to leave Saints after last season's relegation.

Football Insider reports Saints will demand a figure of around £45m for Ward-Prowse.

And West Ham now plan to bid for the midfielder after last week's £105m sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Newcastle are also keen, but the Hammers hope to wrap up a deal quickly this week.
