West Ham defender Johnson: No-one here getting carried away; we're ready for Man City

West Ham defender Ben Johnson insists they're not getting carried away with their surge up the table.

The Irons go into this weekend's fixture at Manchester City in fourth place.

Johnson told whufc.com: “European football is something that, at the moment, it looks like we're on track for, but we're just trying to take things week by week in training first and putting our finishing touches to how we want to go about each game," the young defender explained.

“We're not really focusing on the table because although the table doesn't lie, it can give you a false sense of security, so I suppose we're just hoping we can do the best we can and get as many points as we can from the last 13 games."

On facing City, he added: "I know we're going to set up correctly with a solid base to defend first and we've got the personnel to attack at pace, so we're really looking forward to the game.

“We're excited, as all the players want to test themselves against the world's best and play in the big games, so we're looking forward to going to their stadium and go toe-to-toe with them."
