West Ham captain Rice assures Moyes: I don't need to rest

West Ham captain Declan Rice insists he doesn't need a rest.

Rice played 68 games for West Ham and England last season – and does not want to miss a single one this campaign either.

But Hammers boss David Moyes admits it is “unsustainable" for players to compete in that many matches, and hopes things level out after the Qatar World Cup in November.

West Ham's Europa Conference League group stage tie away in Anderlecht tomorrow night will be Rice's thirteenth game of this campaign in all competitions, including national duty.

Asked whether he needs more rest time, Rice – who has recently become a father – said: “I don't want a rest at all.

“Before facing Silkeborg [last month] in this competition, I said to the manager that I wanted to play.

“I want to play in every game, even though we have a bigger squad and more competition for places.

“Whenever there is a chance to get an appearance for this club, it is a great opportunity."
