West Ham boss Moyes: Kenwright was wonderful man

Everton legend Bill Kenwright was the perfect chairman for a young manager.

That is the view of David Moyes, who coached the Toffees from 2002 until 2013.

Moyes eventually left for Manchester United, but owes a debt of gratitude to Kenwright.

West Ham boss Moyes paid tribute to the club's chairman, who passed away this week, stating to reporters: "It is incredibly sad news. He was a wonderful man. He gave me a big opportunity in my career.

"He took me when I was a young manager in the lower leagues and gave me a job in the Premier League. He was brilliantly supportive. I could not have had a better chairman as a young coach.

"When I look at modern football nowadays, how difficult it is for so many young managers to make their way, Bill Kenwright was great to work with. We had some really great times over the 11 years with him. We had some successful moments and he'll be sadly missed."
