West Bromwich Albion are set to turn down Arsenal's advances for defender Jonny Evans, according to The Sun.

The Gunners are desperately looking for a new centre-back in the transfer market following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista and have been linked with Evans, as well as a host of other central defenders.

The report claims that the Baggies are determined to keep hold of the 28-year-old, whom they signed from Manchester United last summer, and are prepared to turn down even a £16million bid from the Gunners.
