West Brom midfielder Craig Gardner has been impressed by young teammate Sam Field.

Field played alongside Gardner in the middle during the second half of Thursday's 2-1 win over Vitesse.

“Sam's been brilliant," said Gardner. “All the young lads have been.

“They're just a great bunch and it's good that they've been with us pre-season.

“They haven't shied away from anything. They're well involved with all the lads and we've taken them under our wing.

“They've been brilliant training, brilliant running and playing football.

“They've got a good mentality as well, hopefully they can keep up the hard work that they're doing and make a name for themselves this season."
