West Bromwich Albion are believed to be the only club to have made an enquiry regarding Moussa Sissoko.
While the Newcastle United midfielder has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham United while European clubs PSG and Juventus have also been credited with an interest.
But according to the Daily Star, the Baggies are the sole club to have actually picked up the phone and contacted the Magpies about the French midfielder.
It is understood that Albion were prepared to offer £15m for the 26-year-old but reports of a £35m asking price have reportedly ended the short pursuit by the West Midlands outfit.
