West Brom keeper Foster: All about clean sheets

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster admits manager Tony Pulis has drummed into them the importance of clean sheets.

Albion have stopped Hull, Everton and Swansea from scoring under the new head coach and also kept FA Cup clean sheets against Gateshead and West Ham.

Birmingham Mail.

"We've been much more solid than we were through last season.

"The clean sheets in the Premier League is already a pretty good statistic and obviously we are looking to add a few more to that in the next three months.

"Those clean sheets are important because when the gaffer first came in we had a meeting and he gave us this little stat that was a diamond one - every clean sheet that you keep in the Premier League is worth an average of 2.1 points.

"He set us a target of 10 clean sheets before the end of the season. If we can keep clean sheets we are going to get a good chunk of the points we need. We definitely look more solid."
