Walker shown straight red-card as Man City downed by RB Leipzig

Manchester City have ended their Champions League campaign in defeat by RB Leipzig.

The German side claimed a 2-1 victory to finish third in Group A, securing their place in the Europa League knockout stages.

Pep Guardiola decided to play a strong side despite having secured top spot in the group, with Kevin De Bruyne making his first start since November 6.

But the Premier League giants went behind after 24 minutes courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungary midfielder rounded keeper Zack Steffen to open the scoring.

Andre Silva doubled the advantage 19 minutes from time with a superb finish.

Riyad Mahrez pegged one back for the visitors but any hope of a comeback was quashed when Kyle Walker was shown a straight red-card for a challenge on Silva.

City are now waiting to discover their last-16 opponents, with the draw taking place on Monday.

Guardiola's side, who are top of the Premier League, host Wolves at the Etihad on Saturday.
