Villarreal coach Quique Setien was delighted after their 2-1 win against Valencia.
Villarreal won a thrilling derby against Valencia thanks to goals from Samu Chukwueze and Juan Foyth.
Setien said, “The team is getting closer to what I want, there are things I am very happy with. Although there is always room for improvement. We deserved to win the game and a victory reinforces what you do.
“It's never easy at the beginning and even more so when two days after arriving you have to compete. The players have to assimilate the changes and, although I have made things clear, it's not easy for them to assimilate. The friendlies have been very good for us. This is the way forward
“Today was a very special day for the club. A victory on the day of the re-inauguration of the stadium and on top of that against a local rival strengthens the team a lot. I'm really happy."
