Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira is set to extend his stay with Manchester City.

City look set to offer Vieira a 12-month contract extension.

The veteran Frenchman might not have set the world alight since his arrival from Inter Milan in January, but it still seems he has done enough to convince the Blues to keep him at Eastlands.

"I still need to speak with him but I think we will keep Patrick," said manager Roberto Mancini. "He is an important player."

Vieira, on-loan from Inter, comes off contract from his Serie A club in June.
