French striker Eric Hassli produced an absolutely spectacular goal for Vancouver Whitecaps on the weekend which is now getting all types of exposure around the world.
The former FC Metz and Zurich man netted the equaliser against Seattle Sounders at Qwest Field in quite spectacular fashion when he picked up a wayward pass just outside the area before chipping it up to himself and hitting a sweetly-timed volley with the inside of his foot from an angle.
The goal has now been seen by many on YouTube with a whole host of people, some of Hassli's ex-teammates included, getting very excited about it.
"They said it was magnificent and a great goal and they were very happy for me," he said. "Some of the guys joked around and said I went to cross it."
Whilst Whitecaps coach Tom Soehn said it had gone even further than just adulation from close friends.
"The amount of feedback I got back from agents who have seen it overseas is pretty incredible," he said. "I think it has really grown legs.
"It's great advertising for the Whitecaps but also for the league in general."
