The Australian full-back is currently on loan from Cherries at MLS side Seattle Sounders, with his stay in America recently extended having initially joined the club in August 2018 on a deal until June this year.

He is quoted by the Daily Echo: "The season was going really well for me and we wanted to kind of just see the season out and have a full season and continue to do well and continue to grow and get better.

"I'll have six months left of my deal after the season finishes with MLS, so we'll sit down and see what we can sort out.

"Whether it's me going back to the UK, or stay out here, we'll figure some stuff out there."

He will stay at the club until the end of the MLS season.

Smith originally joined the Sounders last August and has played in 25 MLS matches, all but one of them as a starter, and helped them keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 away win against Houston on Sunday.

The side currently sit second in the Western Conference standings, behind just LAFC in the battle for the post-season, with the regular season due to end in October.

The Australian defender is on loan at Seattle, but the Premier League season is set to begin in early August.

Given the MLS runs on a different schedule, Smith will be able to remain with Seattle until their season concludes.

The defender has managed five assists for the team in 19 appearances.

"We're very pleased to have worked out a deal with Bournemouth to keep Brad here through the current campaign," said Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey.

"Brad has performed admirably since he arrived in Seattle and is an important piece of our current squad, so we're excited to have him here as we approach the homestretch of the season."

The 24-year-old joined Seattle on loan from Bournemouth this summer. Injuries and poor form have kept Smith to just nine league appearances across four seasons with Liverpool and the Cherries.

"For me, I'm focusing on playing football because I haven't played enough football in my career," Smith told Sounder at Heart.

"I've been in some big clubs and I've played in some big games, especially at Liverpool, but I need to play games and to help the team do well in this season and next season as well.

"It's a good team, good coaching staff, so I'm glad to be a part of it and we'll see where it goes from here."

The Daily Echo says the Australian international has made just five Premier League appearances since joining the Dorset club in July 2016, the most recent of which was 18 months ago.

Any deal would see Smith link up with the Sounders on loan until June next year, although Cherries would have the option to recall the 24-year-old in January.

The MLS regular season runs from March until October, with the play-offs taking place in November and December.
