Tribal Trends - Transfers: Fernandes to Man Utd done? Will Cavani land at Chelsea or Atleti? Auba Arsenal exit?

The January transfer window is now in it's final stretch...

There are stories and speculation swirling around everywhere. Sometimes it feels overwhelming.

But please don't stress, because here at Tribalfootball we will summarise the biggest stories throughout football each week and let you know whether you should believe the paper talk or not…

Bruno Fernandes - Sporting Lisbon

Clubs Interested: Manchester United

Manchester United began their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes last summer as they looked to bolster their midfield set-up going into the 2019/2020 campaign.

United have now renewed their interest in the Portuguese international, with Sporting reportedly set to lower their asking price in a bid to facilitate the move and rake in some funds through Fernandes' sale.

Sporting were previously not willing to listen to any offers below £68m.

But reports in Portugal and the UK on Tuesday both claimed United and Sporting had come to an agreement of an initial fee of €55 million (£47m). This could rise to €80m (£68m) if certain clauses are met.

Fernandes is expected to finalise his personal terms and undergo a medical in Manchester on Wednesday.

Likelihood: It would take a disaster for this one not to go through

Timo Werner - RB Leipzig

Clubs Involved:Liverpool

RB Leipzig man Timo Werner is reportedly keen on a move to Liverpool having been captivated by the team's winning mentality and Jurgen Klopp's tactical philosophy.

Werner, who currently sits second on the Bundesliga's top scorers' chart with 20 goals and six assists after 1605 minutes of Bundesliga football, was previously on Liverpool's radar but the interest appears to have cooled down in recent times.

Werner is hoping that Liverpool will renew their interest in him and launch an official bid before the January transfer window draws to a close.

However, with Leipzig sitting at the top of Bundesliga and Klopp content with his attacking trio, it is unlikely Werner will arrive this month.

Likelihood: Maybe in the summer

Edinson Cavani - PSG

Clubs Involved:Manchester United, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid

Marcus Rashford's injury has put Manchester United in a difficult position. With the team's main goalscoring threat now out of contention for up to two months, United have identified Chelsea target Edinson Cavani as a potential short-term replacement for Rashford.

Cavani reportedly submitted a transfer request to PSG last Sunday as he's currently unhappy about his role in the club, having made just 9 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly in for the 32-year-old, however, their chief Gil Marin has publicly denied those claims.

It remains to be seen just where Cavani will land. But he will be pushing to leave France all the way.

Likelihood: This one could go down to the wire

Kryzystof Piatek - AC Milan

Clubs Involved:Chelsea, Tottenham

AC Milan have reportedly offered Chelsea the option to sign Kryzystof Piatek before the end of the January transfer window with Frank Lampard looking to sign a new striker to aid Chelsea's efforts in securing a top four finish.

Milan's asking price is reportedly £25m and they have also stated that they will not accept a loan move for the Polish striker, so Chelsea would have to table a transfer offer.

Should Chelsea offload Giroud before the transfer window closes, then they would be likely to make a move for Piatek.

Tottenham are also on the hunt for a striker due to Harry Kane's long term injury. Although the notoriously shrewd Daniel Levy looks unlikely to meet Milan's valuation.

Likelihood: It's a matter of who will concede between Milan and Chelsea - loan or permanent?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang- Arsenal

Clubs Involved:Barcelona

Reports suggest that Aubameyang is keen to hear from Barcelona regarding a potential move to the Nou Camp.

Aubameyang is currently Arsenal's top scorer having scored 14 goals in 22 Premier League games.

Barcelona are currently looking to sign a replacement for Luis Suarez who is expected to be out for the next four months following a knee injury. Aubameyang would be a solid replacement, but it remains to be seen if he can push for a move.

It is not inconceivable that Aubameyang would not push through an exit from the Emirates. The Gunners are re-building under Mikel Arteta and are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League.

Likelihood: Not impossible
