Tottenham striker Harry Kane was surprised to see LA Galaxy star David Beckham miss Great Britain selection.

Kane leads the attack for England Under-19s at their Euro 2012 next week.

"When Beckham was getting fit at Spurs it was amazing to see him in the dressing room," said Kane. "He's been through it all and is one of the best role models ever.

"To have players like that around is inspiring and you want to go on to do the things they have done.

"He had a lot to do with getting us the Olympics but it's Stuart Pearce's choice."
